AMD showcase first Fusion demo @ Computex

AMD's first APU products will be available in the first half of 2011. Codenamed Ontario and Llano they are set to shake up the market.

Accelerated Processing Units combine CPU and GPU into a single die processor and are created with 3d video and HD support as the primary focus.

AMD gave the first public demo at Computex and Rick Bergman, AMD's products group senior vice president was keen to show an Aliens V Predator game demo running. He said that with an APU encorporated into a netbook, graphics like this would be possible.

Ontario is for customers who want full HD display options while consuming little power and Llano is for the mass market audience.

Berman said : “Fusion is a multi core x86, with a DX11 highly parallel capable device, hooked through a high speed bus and giving those two processing elements access to a high speed memory, all in one single die.”
