Sony postpone Motorstorm Apocalypse – respect for Japan

Some games have been postponed due to the horrific disaster in Japan. One of the key titles to get delayed is Motorstorm Apocalypse, the latest title in the high octane racer franchise from Sony.

Sony are postponing the game because it features a city which is constantly under attack from natural disasters, as well as flying vehicles and collapsing buildings. UK stores already have stocks of the game as Sony have issued in a statement.

“Although we have shipped the game into the channel last week, given that we are able to do so, we have chosen to postpone the launch in the UK. In the meantime we will continue to monitor the situation very closely.

“We are shocked and saddened to see the impact of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan and our thoughts are with all those affected, including our colleagues within the Sony family, living and working throughout Japan.

“We are very conscious of the parallels between these events and the underlying theme in Motorstorm and are doing everything we can to be as sensitive as possible to the situation. Although the game itself is already in distribution, we are ceasing any further shipments and removing as much of the marketing materials as possible.”

KitGuru says: It seems to us like a wise move, especially considering that many people will have suffered personal loss since the disasters struck.

  1. Its not like Sony to normally give a shit. im shocked.

  2. Sony did the exact same thing with the Christchurch earthquake down here in New Zealand because the game replicates a destroyed city and blahblah. All a PR stunt tbh.
