We now know the PC specs behind Cyberpunk 2077’s impressive E3 gameplay demo

After debuting a new full-length trailer for Cyberpunk 2077 at E3 last week, the games press were treated to an impressive 50-minute long gameplay demo behind closed doors. From what we've been hearing, the game is already looking to be an incredible RPG, and now we know what hardware was used to get the game up and running for E3.

Cyberpunk 2077 is going to be a first-person RPG, which will have players wielding a gun rather than a sword. The game takes place in ‘Night City', a sprawling, dense urban area, with many accessible buildings, plenty of NPCs walking around and so far, no loading screens. It's shaping up to be an impressive game for sure, but what hardware was running the demo?

According to CD Projekt Red community manager, Alicja, over on the Cyberpunk 2077 Discord channel, the gameplay demo was running on a very high end PC:

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-8700K
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080Ti
  • RAM: 32GB 3000MHz G.Skill Ripjaws V
  • SSD: Samsung 960 Pro 512GB M.2
  • Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix Z370-I Gaming
  • PSU: Corsair SF600

This is obviously quite the powerhouse, but it is important to remember that CD Projekt Red hasn't hit the optimisation stage of development just yet. While it is likely that a high-end PC will be required for ultra graphics settings, the game will run on much lesser hardware.

It is also worth noting that while some rumours previously pinned Cyberpunk 2077 as a ‘next gen' game for consoles, CD Projekt Red has since confirmed that it is targeting the Xbox One and PS4 spec. We might see this game get an upgrade when new console hardware does arrive, but the development team is ensuring that the game has scalability to run on a variety of different hardware specs.

KitGuru Says: While the Cyberpunk 2077 trailer gave off more of a ‘bright and colorful' vibe, judging from the gameplay demo, this is very much a serious game. We still have no idea when we can expect the game to release, but at this point, I am hoping for 2020.
