Computex 2018: MSI trims the fat with two new thin, light and minimal bezel laptops

Today at Computex 2018, MSI has launched its latest round of gaming laptops, focussed on trimming the fat and making its laptops thinner and lighter than ever before. The GF63 and PS42 laptops kick off this new initiative, switching to near edge-to-edge displays and a thinner form factor while retaining powerful hardware under the hood.

We'll start off with the brand new GF63 laptop, which packs a 15.6 inch display and weighs less than 2kg. Under the hood you'll find an Intel Core i7 8th Gen processor and a GTX 1050Ti. The laptop boasts over 7 hours of battery life, and comes with a brushed aluminium cover to retain that premium look.

The PS42 is the second laptop we are seeing today. This one takes a step away from MSI's usual black and red colour scheme, trading it in for an elegant silver. It weighs in at just 1.19kg and is 15.9mm thick, all while offering over 10 hours of battery life. This one comes with a fingerprint sensor for additional security, Nvidia GTX 10 series graphics and Intel 8th Gen processors. Exact hardware will depend on the configuration you choose, we'll hopefully learn more about that when we visit the booth this week.

One nice little surprise that MSI snuck into this press release was a new collaboration with Bluestacks, the Android emulator for PC. MSI has partnered with Bluestacks to implement the software into the MSI App, granting laptop owners the ability to play mobile games on the go. Finally, these new gaming laptops will also feature xTend wireless technology, which should boost your home network connection while playing games in order to reduce lag.

KitGuru Says: We'll hopefully have some more in depth details in the coming days as we start to do the rounds in person at Computex. This seems like a promising start for MSI though.
