AMD increase marketshare by 12.6% in 2010

2010 wasn't a particularly good year for graphics card sales, according to Jon Peddie Research which shows that 72.8 million units shipped, dropping from 75.3 million in 2009.

AMD however had a good year, with their marketshare climbing by 12.6 percent during 2010. Nvidia's dropped by 6.2 percent during the same period, although they did reclaim some ground in the final quarter of 2010.

Jon Peddie are claiming that sales volumes had dropped due to the lower demand at the bottom of the market. Intel still continues to ship most graphics chips because they are integrated into the motherboard. It will be interesting to see if this changes in 2011 with the release of Fusion products from AMD.
