The Nazis have their own Batman in new Wolfenstein 2 trailer

Nothing is sacred in the Nazi-ridden world of Wolfenstein 2, with previous trailers for the game depicting various genres of television, including drama, comedy and gameshows. The latest trailer tackles older superhero shows, depicting ‘uber hero’ Batman, I mean, Blitzmensch kapow-ing his enemies in true 60’s fashion.

Blitzmensch is the hero Nazi-occupied America deserves, and one it will surely need right now as Wolfenstein protagonist William J. Blazkowicz pushes the German forces back from his homeland in the upcoming sequel.

The quirky opening for the animation reveals that Blitzmensch was an Olympic Decathlete called Dieter Gollwitzer, that, while on a “routine transatlantic zeppelin flight,” was struck by lightning and endowed with special powers. As Blitzmensch, he harbours the “power of thunder” and “speed of electricity,” earning the title as antagonist General Engel’s favourite TV show.

Of course Blitzmensch isn’t on this crusade to thwart pro-American terrorists alone, accompanied by Fräulein Fox, both aim to “save the world from capitalism, communism, and degenerates every day in this amazing show celebrating die Überlegenheit—the superiority—of the Reich and the Aryan race,” according to Bethesda. “Who will be this week’s baddie? The evil Money Grubber? The notorious Proletariat-Man? The vicious Mr. Yankee Monkey? Don’t miss a single episode of Blitzmensch!”

True to other Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus trailers, there is a section of gameplay located at the end, showing off the brutal gunplay in the best of ways. It also reveals that on top of Nazis and even robots, you’ll be fighting wildlife as BJ does battle against a giant alligator at the end of the clip.

Wolfenstein 2 releases on PS4, Xbox One and PC on October 27th.

KitGuru Says: The villains definitely have a Batman vibe, in both design and name. The Illegal Eagle in particular has a very Penguin vibe about him, from his avian name to his mask and even his purple theme. It’s safe to say I’ve never been as interested in this series as I am now. Will you be picking up Wolfenstein 2?
