KitGuru goes live with the Acer Predator 21x

Today, we sent fellow KitGuru writer, Dominic, down to Thorpe Park to meet with the folks at Acer. While we were there, we had the chance to take a good look at the Predator 21X, the world's first Ultra-wide laptop, with a 21-inch display, a mechanical keyboard and dual graphics cards underneath!

The Predator 21X is a laptop we have covered a couple of times in the past. However, we never had the chance to see one in person. Dom went live on Facebook with Acer rep Gábor Szabad to get the low-down. You can check that video out below:

In terms of specs, the Predator 21x is an absolute powerhouse. There is an Intel Core i7 Kaby Lake processor underneath alongside two GTX 1080s, all working together to get the most out of the 120Hz ultra-wide display. The display is IPS, though its resolution is only 2560×1080. However, when you consider the high PPI, the refresh rate and the fact that this is a laptop, 1080p ultra-wide is still very impressive.

Given that there is a full mechanical keyboard here, hardware had to be crammed towards the back of the laptop, meaning the keyboard sits further forward than it would on a traditional laptop. Under the hood, there is an impressive cooling setup, with nine heatpipes and blower style fans to help direct airflow properly.

All of this obviously comes at a price though, with the Acer Predator 21x costing £9000.

KitGuru Says: This is by no means a mainstream product but it is incredibly impressive to see in person. What do you guys think of the Acer Predator 21x? I'd like to see one next to the MSI GT80 Titan, that would be a very interesting comparison to see.
