Destiny 2 PC release date and Nvidia partnership announced

Back when Destiny 2 was officially unveiled, many fans of the series were excited to finally see a PC version in the works. Bungie has already promised a bunch of great PC-centric features but unfortunately, this version of the game won't be out in September alongside consoles. Instead, Destiny 2 will be launching until late October. On the plus side, we have a 4K PC gameplay trailer to stare at courtesy of Nvidia.

The delay isn't too bad. Destiny 2 launches on Xbox One and PS4 on the 6th of September, with the PC version arriving on the 24th of October, so it's around 6-7 weeks late. Still, hopefully the extra wait will be worth it when the game launches. Here is the 4K PC gameplay trailer shown off at E3 this week:

The game is running at 3840×2160 on a GTX 1080Ti at 60 frames per second. Nvidia has “lent its gaming and PC development expertise” to Activision and Bungie for Destiny 2, though there is no confirmation on GameWorks specific graphical effects just yet.

To celebrate its partnership for Destiny 2, those buying a GTX 1080 or 1080Ti between now and the 27th of June, will be given a free code for the game. This will come with access to the beta, which is likely taking place in July.

KitGuru Says: I'm very much looking forward to Destiny 2, the original always felt like a game that belonged on PC, so I'll be making the switch the first chance I get. Are any of you planning on picking up Destiny 2 later this year?

  1. Shame I am leaving nvidia for good in August, meaning that I will have to play this game with Vega 10. I would hope that it performs well.

  2. good luck trying to find cheap vega cards in august, mining bitcoin/ethereum make polaris cards price go to the sky, maybe will be the same with vega since radeon cards are better for mining bitcoin (sorry for my poor english)

  3. The camera/aim movement in that video was painful to watch.

  4. No other choice, I have given up on buying into G-Sync, nor do i use any of the nvidia features. That includes old ones like ShadowPlay and new ones like that Ansel (Screenshot app). I do not want to use nvidia cards with newer dx12 and vulkan games. No thanks.

vega ten, meh, much prefer nvidia series, plus who needs g-sync?? i have used monitors with and without, honestly can’t say i really noticed any difference lmao

  7. That’s because “nvidia” is a cool name that sounds in your ears like “quality”. Honestly from that comment, you look like a fanboy.
I have used GPUs from both companies. I can tell you that AMD has upped their game, first with RX Series that nowadays outperform the GTX 1060 in most DX12/Vulkan games (and that’s what I look at, cuz that’s the future), now with Ryzen, Threadripper and Vega are coming next. On the other hand, since I have a GTX 980, I don’t want to upgrade to Pascal, because Pascal is a brute-forced OCed Maxwell. I am looking for innovation, and nVidia has brought nothing with Pascal.
I am buying a big ass monitor in August, so I will need Vega for that, because it’s a FreeSync one.

  8. fuck you NVidia this means Destiny 2 will be Dx11 only piece of shit gameworks title and my beloved Radeon GPU is going to get fucked over with crap performance no doubt because of this gay partnership.
