It looks like the OnePlus 5 is on the way as this week, details surrounding the upcoming smartphone began to leak out, alongside an image of what the phone should look like.
This particular image made its way on to the web via India Today Tech, whose claims to have sources that have worked on the OnePlus 5 and would be in a position to share an early render of what the device looks like.
As we can see from the image, the OnePlus 5 appears set to feature a dual-camera design on the back, with a metal frame around the edges similarly to the OnePlus 3T. There is no fingerprint sensor on the back, so perhaps OnePlus has managed to incorporate it into the home button, or the display itself. That said, this is still an early leak, so the design could be out of date at this point.
We don't know exactly when the OnePlus 5 will launch but it should feature specs worthy of rivalling other high-end Android devices launching this year. We would expect a Snapdragon 835 to be under the hood, though that may depend on availability.
KitGuru Says: The OnePlus series of smartphones has been well received since day one. It will be interesting to see how that continues going into its fifth iteration, though overall excitement does seem to have deteriorated a bit. Do any of you currently have a OnePlus smartphone? Are you planning on upgrading to a new one this year, or will you be switching brands?
I am waiting specifically for this phone. If it it’s too expensive or doesn’t deliver, I may have to go with Huawei or (maybe) Xiaomi or Nokia will enter our market by then.
Got my oneplus 3 at launch and I cant see what an upgrade could offer at the moment, I can’t find a single fault with this phone, it’s lightning fast, battery sees me through two days and the camera is brilliant. Saying all that I would definitely recommend Oneplus without a shadow of a doubt.
OnePlus actually had quite a lot of issues with their security. On OnePlus 3/3T you could unlock bootloader without factory reset and without changing the unlock flag, for example. Or you could change SELinux status from Enforcing to Permissive and, by the way, there is no indicator of this status in the settings. Oh and also there were IMEI leaks when you were checking for updates. Yes, they were sending your IMEI in unencrypted communication.

I have a Oneplus 3 and love it. The only things I would change are: add an IR blaster, it’s a dirt cheap feature to add and it was so handy to be able to use my previous (Samsung) phone as a unified remote; water resistance (though that would probably move the price above where Oneplus see themselves); and the ability to use the second SIM slot, which is useless to most people, as a microSD card slot instead.
I don’t quite see the point of the dual camera design shown here. The cameras are way too close together to produce different viewpoints for 3D imaging, they would need to be at opposite ends of the phone for that. What’s the purpose of them?
basically it lets you focus on the foreground and the background at the same time, giving better focus, also one camera may have high exposure and the other will have low exposure, so you’ll get accurate colours at both ends of the spectrum m80
