Nvidia will be announcing the GTX 1080Ti in six days

It looks like Nvidia is planning a GTX 1080Ti reveal for GDC after all. Last week we learned that Nvidia was planning on holding a ‘fan event' on the 28th of February but we were unsure whether or not there would be a livestream, calling into question the likelihood of any big announcements. Fortunately, today Nvidia launched a countdown timer for the ‘Ultimate GeForce' livestream and taking a quick look at the source code for the page reveals references to the long-awaited 1080Ti.

The countdown appears when you first head over to the official GeForce website and as you can see, the TI in TIME is made bolder as another nod towards what's coming. At the time of writing, the countdown will end in just six days and 11 hours. Unfortunately for those of us in the UK/Europe, that means the stream will be happening in the early hours of the morning.

Upon seeing the countdown, we decided to take a quick look at the code behind the counter by selecting ‘view source' in FireFox. As you can see above, the countdown directly references the GTX 1080Ti, essentially confirming that we will be seeing it at the event on the 28th of February (or early hours of March 1st for Europe).

KitGuru Says: It is nice to see that we will finally be getting official information on the GTX 1080Ti after months and months of waiting and hearing endless rumours. Have many of you been waiting on the 1080Ti launch before upgrading?

  1. Sorry Nvidia to little to late this card should have been released way back in Sept 2016 maybe then it would have been the go to card for a lot more people including myself. But there are a lot of uninformed people there that will just go and buy this now unimportant card and Nvidia is surely banking on that.

  2. “it at the event on the 28th of February (or early hours of the 29th for Europe”

    Also known as March 1st.

  3. Why is the card “now unimportant”? How is it too little? Nothing is going to be faster than it, except the Titan X at times, until Volta comes out. How is it too late? It’s launching a couple months before Vega 10, its only possible competition, and Vega 10 will be slower.

Do you mean you would have bought one months ago but now you will wait for Volta? The 980 Ti launched a similar amount of time after the 980 and it sold very well. Although there probably will be less time between the 1080 Ti and the 1180 (Volta) than there was betwewn the 980 Ti and the 1080.

  4. I was so looking forward to GTX 1080Ti In Jan & was totally disappointed when it wasn’t announced & now i am happy it wasn’t released because vega looks better & ive all & forgot GTX1080TI never brought a AMD card always nvidia but will be getting AMD GPU so i do think its a little too late for the 1080TI

  5. Kinda pisses me off, I waited for so long and gave up at the begging of this month and bought a 1080, now they do decide to announce it.

  6. Haha. You’ve never bought an AMD card before but now you’re buying one site unseen. Okie…
