Humble Freedom Bundle sends more than $6.5 million to charity

The Humble Freedom Bundle has proved to be the second most popular in the history of the platform, generating more than $6.5 million for charity and selling 200,000+ bundles. The only bundle to have a better showing was the Humble Origin bundle, which generated more than $10 million in 2013.

Traditionally Humble Bundles split their revenue between developers, charity and the Humble Bundle company, but in this case, it all went to charity. 100 per cent of sales generated from games like Stardew Valley, Super Meat Boy, The Witness, Octodad and many more. It was designed as a counter-point to the Trump administration's anti-immigrant executive orders and generated close to four million dollars in the first 36 hours.

Over the following few days, games were added, some ran out of keys and its popularity only grew. Ultimately 201,407 bundles were sold, generating more than $6.3 million in direct sales and a further $300,000 thanks to the Humble Bundle group itself.

All of that money will be split between three supported charities: Doctors Without Borders, the American Civil Liberties Union and the International Rescue Committee.

“We humbly remember that the United States is a nation of immigrants, and we proudly stand with developers, authors, and charities that champion liberty and justice for all,” the bundle’s description read.

KitGuru Says: How many of you picked up this bundle? It was for a good cause, but the library of games it offered was particularly impressive.

  1. I have bought many a game from humble bundle over the years. It’s a great idea for charity and to top up your games library for a few quid. It’s only about an hour ago I purchased the Civilization bundles.
