As we reported last weekend, Crytek appears to have hit a financial roadblock once again and sources speaking with KitGuru confirmed that employees haven't been paid on time for months and no pay has been received for October, November or December. While Crytek has yet to comment publicly on all of the news, one of their former FX artists has started up a crowd funding campaign for legal funds to sue Crytek for their unpaid wages.
Ludvig Lindqvist launched the GoFundMe campaign this week. He was employed at Crytek's Frankfurt office from March 2015 to December 2016 and left after receiving no pay for October or November. Do keep in mind that wages from June of this year onwards were also paid several weeks late at Crytek Frankfurt.
On his crowd funding page, Ludvig says: “Today as I'm creating this GoFundMe campaign, 14th December 2016, it was 58 days since Crytek paid me my September salary. Two whole months have failed to make it to my account. All Crytek employees are in the same situation”.
The campaign goal is quite high, sitting at €20,000, which some are questioning in the comments as the campaign doesn't really explain why this much money is needed. That said, lawyers are expensive and this case could last a while and rack up quite a bill. So far, at the time of writing, €155 has been raised so far for the legal fund.

KitGuru Says: Given the run around Crytek is putting its employees through, I'm surprised more lawsuits haven't popped up yet. Crytek is keeping quiet about what's going on right now but hopefully all of the employees get things sorted soon, after all, people have bills to pay and mouths to feed and two months is a long time to not receive any income.
Depends on why they haven’t been paid. If the company just doesn’t have the cash to pay then suing them will be a total waste of time and money. Saying that they should just admit defeat and liquidate if things are that bad.
not really seeing the point to crowd fund one guys legal case for this, especially when there were a large number of employees effected. maybe if they started crowd funding as a group for a lawsuit.
Yeah good luck getting money guys, most of us live paycheck to paycheck, while you guys working for major AAA studios full time do pretty darn well compared to us bums. Why doesn’t this guy post HOW MUCH he has been paid in total since he started with crytek in 2015 march? I bet he wouldn’t dare post that number, it’s probably a lot. And most people would be like…. bro… go fund your own legal campaign, you can afford it.
Commenters on the go fund me page have laid out good options that don’t require 20k.
Not true, they could be forced to pay buy selling a studio, assets the company own etc could be seized etc etc. To be honest as you say they should just close their doors and liquidate and pay what everyone is owed and move on. With Amazon licencing the stuff and a few other studios owning the whole of the engine in a different guise I can imagine most would get employed pretty well.
Further to that Crytek could just put themselves up for sale and maybe a studio could just buy them out. Their IP most still be worth pretty good cash as it’s the management and not the product that has killed this company.

Chris Roberts has now a chance to hire even more people… Or they can just buy them out as a whole and kick out Crytek’s managers. But I doubt CIG would opt for it, afterall the money goes to development, not for buyouts.
Sorry but you are well off in regards to wage (not saying we should back) but what you are suggesting is false info. There are stats about that show the wages these people earn. They are not mega rich or anything silly. An FX artist wage is about £35k a year which is about what I earn so no real difference.
Go back 10 years ago and it was very different to now and a further 10 years before that even more so because people with the skills were hard to come by. Now there is a much more saturated market for these areas of work.
I could see this type of action if it was for all the employee’s but if it is just the one guy I smell something fishy here and would say people should probably not part with their money to pay for this guys Christmas gifts and his rent and Bills.
