A lot of PC gamers out there don't dip their toes into the console market and as a result, they do miss out on some good games. However, it looks like PC owners will get their chance to play some PlayStation exclusives soon as Sony has confirmed that it is bringing PlayStation Now to the platform, with the rollout kicking off in Europe and then spreading to the US.
PlayStation Now is a streaming service and is limited to last generation titles. However, it happens to work quite well so it could be worth trying out. This will give PC players a chance to try exclusives like Uncharted, God of War, The Last of Us, Journey and more. The PS Now library itself spans to over 400 games so there is a lot on offer.
Aside from that, Sony has also announced an official wireless adapter for the DualShock 4 controller, which is a first. As for system requirements, PS Now will work on Windows 7, 8.1 and 10, it will also work on any system running an Intel Core i3 or AMD A10 CPU at minimum. You will want at least 2GB of RAM and a 5Mbps connection too.
An exact launch date wasn't given but it should be on the way soon. Hopefully then we can also get some news on quality settings, like whether or not 1080p streaming will be possible, or support for higher frame rates on games that support it.
KitGuru Says: PlayStation Now isn't a bad service but game streaming is never really going to be the optimal way to play these games. That said, if you are dead set on avoiding consoles, this does give you a chance to play through some pretty great games on PC, including The Last of Us and Uncharted, two of Naughty Dog/Sony's biggest franchises.
I’ve long said now that the future will just be PC. Everyone on 1 platform, finally. All these console makers will just have their own competing steam like service on the internet. Developers no doubt want this to. Imagine you make a game, and it no longer needs to be ported, AND you can reach every single gamer there is. Of course you need to develop your game to work on a few different video cards, but it actually isn’t that hard to do especially these days, and still a heck of a lot easier then making a game to support Wii, Sony, AND Xbone.

I mostly agree with you. One thing, however, is the need/desire to optimize gaming engines for action-oriented games for a specific GPU architecture for maximum smoothness/efficiency. What this boils down to is a defacto standard like AMD’s Radeon or nVidia’s architecture. For this, it does look like AMD’s Radeon will be that standard going forward for several reasons. First, AMD’s Radeon is in all the current generation consoles, and will also be in the next generation PS and XBox, plus their PC market share is on the rise, increasing from 20 to 34% in the last year. Second, Qualcomm’s Adreno GPU was purchased from AMD, and is Radeon-like in most of it’s attributes, and Qualcomm has the largest market share of ARM-based CPUs in tablets and phones.
So yes, the future of non-phone/tablet gaming is x86, and probably, AMD-based x86 APUs with Radeon graphics.
Hmmm AMD is small small small compare to Intel and Nvidia…. competition is good yes. But wait, Nvidia dominate the discrete GPU world and Intel CPU/iGPU for so many years. AMD just have a small increase because of marketing campaign for Polaris (mid range ok card) and ZEN, a “wait and see” real world performance.
But again, competition is good, it’s make price drop and force innovation.
And PC is about choice, it’s about the fun of upgrading, tuning, modding, overclocking !! The choice of hardware you want. I don’t want only AMD, Nvidia or Intel.
I want the choice. If one day AMD do something very good, something i want, i will switch for some time. And vice-versa !
Just don’t start with the typical war between Nvidia and AMD…..boring !!!
