By all accounts, Nvidia was expected to unveil its uber-high-end Pascal GTX Titan-X at Gamescom in August, but out of the blue it dropped last night. Nvidia came bearing images, specs and a swanky video trailer. At this point it would be weird if hardware launched without one.
Nvidia terms this new GPU, the “Ultimate graphics card,” which until the rumoured GTX 1080Ti comes out at some point in the future, is certainly the case for professionals and consumers alike. But as with previous generations of the Titan, expect a giant price tag to come alongside those monstrous specifications. [yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y02kptTItj8′]
The new Titan X not only makes last generation's Titan X look rather poor in comparison, but it decimates the recently released GTX 1080 too. The new Titan sports 3,584 CUDA cores – 500 more than the last-gen Titan, and more than a thousand more than the GTX 1080.
The GPU itself runs at a base clock of 1,417MHz, boosting up to 1,531Mhz, which helps deliver a ridiculous 11Tflops of performance. 12GB of onboard GDDR5X and a 384bit memory interface help it deliver 480GBps of bandwidth too – close to 50 per cent more than the Maxwell Titan X (thanks VideoCardz).
Of course all of this comes at a power cost. Titans are notorious power sinks and this generation's is no different. The TDP of the Titan X is 250w using a six and eight pin connector, the same as the Maxwell Titan X, but 70w more than the GTX 1080 – this is not a GPU for a super-efficient system.
It's not for those without deep pockets either. When Nvidia launches the GTX Titan X on 2nd August, it will cost $1,200. That's more than £900 and you know we'd get screwed on the VAT and import, so expect this card to set you back more than £1,000 when it's released.
There may be cheaper alternatives down the line and this could be a Founders Edition like other cards we've seen, but we wouldn't expect it to drop much.

I saw this last night randomly just before going to bed. It’s pretty crazy how they not only revealed it but got it consumer-ready so much so that they were able to give a few away all before any leaks, images or news started circulating.
This just brings us one step closer to that sweet 1080Ti reveal, but let’s be honest they’re not going to rush to get that one out
1080ti will launch to take on high end amd cards !! rumored 490X !!
If GP102+GDDR5X is Titan, there’s not going to be a 1080ti. Unless they feel like a castrated GP102 has some space in the market, but I doubt it.

actually i think…..490x will take on 1080 but that time 1080ti will also be launched, which will obviously have better performance then 1080 & 490x !!
I think AMD may struggle to compete with Nvidia unless they have made breakthroughs in power efficiency and are keeping that quiet. Just look at how the 1070 consumes the same as the 480 yet achieves much higher fps. The 490x will probably be a hot and hungry card at a high price due to the HBM2. Sadly I think Nvidia have nailed this gen (sad because it means the consumer gets worse prices).
well….if given a chance to buy i will buy a nvidia card over amd card any day !! ( but not a fanboy or hater of any company).
but sadly i have to agree on the pricing part u said……..cards are priced higher by nvidia !!
just look at the titan cards…they r priced so high because amd has no card to take on titan cards !! 🙁
ok folks Polaris was NOT meant to compete with Pascal at the high end which is 1070 and beyond PERIOD, AMD and many professional reviewers stated this till the point that anyone who is reviewing and saying otherwise at this point is ignorant as well as stupid.
Now as far as 1080Ti, when thie above card is so jacked up, and 1080 is apparently already such high performance, how much wiggle room do they have unless they do as usually do and release something that will make recent purchases of their high cost cards irrelevant and wasteful purchases, IMO, they will not release 1080Ti as there is not much room between 1080 new titanX, but hey it is Nvidia they like

250 tdp is modest for unprecedented performance
The only reason they are priced that high is because they can sell them at that price.

the reason being…….developers add support for cf & sli months after the game releases !! (IMO)
No real enthusiast looks at Crossfire these days. Way too many problems. Even far more popular SLI is fading.For 1440 an overclocked 1070 is much cooler and more power efficient and no micro stuttering or special drivers which in some cases, never come.

At this point I don’t see a GTX 1080Ti coming at all. The Titan is not a big jump from the GTX1080 unfortunately – I heard it only delivers 24% better performance for double to money of 2 GTX 1080s.
The deal break here is that the new Titan X doesn’t have the full chip either. So are we looking at another Titan even next year? The performance difference is too small to make a GTX 1080Ti. There is no reason for doing it, unless they are willing to take down the price of the GTX1080 and then introduce a card at the same price tag. But for a $1200, id hardly want a Titan X.. rather I will wait to see what happens next year.

i am agree with you … the titan should be HBM2 … i am not going to buy any card from nvidia until a HBM2 gpu arrive
Yeah, I am pretty surprised the lack of HBM was not pointed out, though I am still skeptical of real world benefits. I am pretty sure they will be releasing a 1080 ti, I wouldnt expect to see it for a couple months though. This really does make me wonder if nVidia is saturating the market so people will have already geared up before AMD releases its offering of HBM. This shall be an interesting year for GPU’s. I went ahead and snagged the more reasonable 1070, and if the TI is truly worth it, i’ll upgrade. I can’t see myself going to AMD though, ive had way too many issues with their drivers.
Titans, from my understanding are more professionally oriented cards, meant for developers. While some people do buy them for gaming, that is the exception. There is always wiggle room, and I would expect a 1080 ti to come out for sure, probably a couple hundred more than the 1080, however, not something that could compete with a Titan in the professional rendering capacity.
Supply and Demand. Nothing new.
I ran a SLI setup for years, and I never really had any problems with it. I think alot of SLI hate comes from people who have never actually done it. I used two 760’s to absolutely max 99% of games (at 1080p) up until recently. Saved me alot of money. Some games don’t support it but there are other ways to use the 2nd card in those cases.

I think you don’t understand chip architecture and missed the point I made.
So far AMD have released another chip which is fall less efficient compared to Nvidia. I mentioned the 1070 as it uses about the same power as the 480, but I could have easily mentioned the 1060 which has better frames and uses less power than the 480 and is its direct competitor.
You just sound like a fanboy/someone who’s poor. The XXXti is always a powerful card and they always find room to improve the model due to the 9+ months they give themselves to develop additional features etc. They have a contract to buy HBM2 so expect that to be on it, and they could have either a bigger die size, push higher clocks, tweak the architecture etc. The 1080ti will be damn expensive and will probably make the Titan redundant just like in the last gen, but top end benchmarking folks don’t care as they know the best kit always has the highest price tag on it and depreciates the quickest.
best would be….if companies start launching dual gpu again !!

The Titans come out and then a few months down the Line the 1080Ti will arrive around 3072 cuda cores prob 10 or 12gb GDDR5X and around 10teraflops. It will be the slightly lighter brother of Titan X as always and will sit in middle of Titan X and 1080 in price. prob around $700-$900 with the 1080 drop in price.
I for 1 will be grabbing one. But only due to 980ti not performing high enough on max settings 4k. sure can get 2nd 980ti now for lot less but why get 2 cards to do less of a job than 1

Know what is funny, I just read that the 1060 was sli neutered. Perhaps nVidia lost some money due to all the sli’d 760 rigs. Lol. As for your comment, I never got around to trying crossfire when I ran AMD/ATI cards. I eventually gave up on them due to the driver issues, the x1950 pro was a particular pain in the ass for me. Had numerous heat issues, driver issues, etc… Though I was using the Sapphire variant.
