Red Dead Redemption 2 map leaks online, said to be a prequel

It looks like fans of the Red Dead series may have a new game to look forward to as Red Dead Redemption 2's map has leaked onto the web. There has been some murmurs about a new Red Dead game in recent months but reports this week claim that the new Red Dead game will be set before the events of Red Dead Redemption, which launched on the Xbox 360 and PS3 several years ago.

The map image was posted to NeoGAF by someone claiming to be in touch with people who have knowledge of the game and its development. Once the image was out there, TechRadar got in touch with its own sources, who claim that the leaked map is in-fact real and actually fairly recent.

At the bottom left of the map you can find the Great Plains, which is part of where the events of Red Dead Redemption were set. However, you will notice that there is no railway going through it, which could class as evidence pointing towards an earlier setting.

Rockstar has not officially announced Red Dead Redemption 2 at this time but if these leaks are accurate, then perhaps we will see something official at E3 this year.

KitGuru Says: We didn't get Red Dead Redemption on the PC but the game gained quite a few fans on console. Did any of you play through Red Dead Redemption? Would you like to see another game in the series?

  1. DX12/PC or bust.

  2. You think DX12 is such a good idea? Some Nvidia cards are having problems running dx12, making the FPS lower than it would be with dx11

  3. thats an issue with the implementation. same issue with dx11 on launch. now DX11 is a dream.

  4. Not my fault the large portion of the market decided to go with a GPU that focuses on DX11, not only in software but also in hardware. GCN was built with Low Level API’s in mind.

Nvidia cards are NOT having problems with dx12. They are working exactly as designed, which did not include any form of parallelism. Pascal will work effectively the same. Volta may have the features required.

  5. Not entirely true. Nvidia has had DX11 down since a month after the first dx11 titles release. They will not be able to “fix” async or other parallel features on their cards as its the very nature of how Nvidia cards currently work, which is heavily serialized. DX12 main focus on parallelism, and GCN has its hardware set for it. Hence the performance gains in low level api’s.

  6. Played through RDR on the ps3, twice. Really hope to see a new game in the sreis, hopefully for pc, not just consoles.

  8. I love the idea of it being a prequel.
