Fallout Shelter is now available on Android

Update 2: Fallout Shelter is now officially out on Android. If you head over to the Google Play Store you should be able to download and install it. Or you can just hit this link, HERE. The Fallout themed game has been out on iOS for a few months now and has generally been well received. Its a fairly good way to kill some time though the fun does wear off after a while.

Update: We have some news for those of you with Android smartphones, Fallout Shelter now has a Google Play Store release date, following a fairly lengthy iOS exclusive period. Android smartphone users will be able to download Fallout Shelter on the 13th of August, according to reports coming straight out of QuakeCon 2015 from IGN.

Original Story: A couple of weeks back at E3, Bethesda announced its new little mobile game, Fallout Shelter, whilst also showing off tons of new Fallout 4 footage. While Fallout Shelter is a neat little mobile time killer and has been received very well, it is currently limited to iOS users, leaving the Android crowd out.

Fortunately, Bethesda is working on that and now we have a general timetable for when to expect Fallout Shelter to hit Android. According to Bethesda's Pete Hines, the Android version of Fallout Shelter is “coming along nice” and while a date hasn't been officially announced, “it should be out next month”.

So later on in August, Android users may finally be able to play the Fallout Shelter app, ahead of Fallout 4's launch in November. The game has gone on to be one of the highest grossing apps in the iOS store in just a matter of weeks, even though the game isn't really built around making money.

It will be interesting to see if the app can hit the same level of success once Android users can finally get their hands on it.

KitGuru Says: I've sunk some time in to perfecting my own vault in Fallout Shelter since it launched. Its a fun little time waster if you just want something you can check in on every once in a while, although Android users aren't missing out on much. Have any of you tried Fallout Shelter? Are you waiting for it to hit Android?

  1. I have a HTC one mini.. It’s showing as incompatible 🙁 I’m never going to get this game.

  2. Download an APK file.

  3. Download the .APK when it’s available which I can’t imagine will be too long. Are you running a custom ROM? I can’t imagine why it wouldn’t be available…

  4. I downloaded it on BlueStacks(Where it works fine), and copied it over manually. It just exits when you open it on my phone 😐 *edit* and no, I’m on stock android. Other people are complaining it is incompatible with fairly modern devices.

  5. Stupid question but I have to check; you have got unknown sources enabled on the security settings, right? If so, the .APK will be the earliest one possible, so there’s plenty of bugs yet to be finished. I’d recommend waiting another couple of hours to see if there are any more updated version.

Download SOPHOS security on your device before running unknown .APK files!

  6. I have the official install file extracted from BlueStacks, so it’s as updated as it’s getting. I suspect it checks system requirements before launching. Damn those efficient coders!

  7. Sorry, I should have Google’d what BlueStacks is… I remember this from 2012 when I tried installing WhatsApp on my Nexus 7! Damnit, looks like you’re going to have to wait a little while I’m afraid buddy. If it’s useful for anyone here, Fallout Shelf works like a dream on the 1+1 on OxygenOS!

  8. Thanks for trying to help David, always appreciated.

  9. can i play this one on my pc?
