AMD to reveal new GPUs at E3

If you have been following the recent rumours surrounding AMD's next batch of graphics cards, then you may have been expecting to see them appear at Computex this week. However, it looks like AMD's 300-series will be skipping the event, with an announcement due to take place at E3 on the 16th of June.

There will be a PC gaming press conference held at E3 this year for the first time, sponsored by AMD and PC Gamer magazine. AMD's latest flagship GPU, currently known as ‘Fury', will be the first to make use of the HBM memory technology. While the announcement is due to take place at 9AM Pacific Standard Time on the 16th of June, the cards may not be available to purchase until the following week.

AMD also posted a short teaser video on YouTube: [yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O5bVoIQrH7g']

While AMD did not show off new graphics cards as previously expected at its Computex press conference, it did show off some new notebooks, powered by the new Carrizo processors.

According to a post from PC Gamer, AMD's CEO did tease new graphics cards by holding one up briefly on stage during the press conference but for now, no formal announcement has taken place.

KitGuru Says: We don't tend to see GPU announcements take place at E3 so this will be a first. PC Gaming in general doesn't really tend to be a focus point of the trade show. Either way, with Nvidia currently dominating the high-end  graphics card market, some competition from AMD will be welcome. Are any of you planning on upgrading your graphics card soon? Are you waiting to see what AMD comes out with?

  1. I’m selling my 980 Classified to upgrade to the 980Ti Hybrid… though I wish the Hybrid wasn’t so ugly…

  2. Still have a GTX 480… trying to play ARK: Survival Evolved….. Lets just say on the lowest settings… This card can’t get much higher than 33fps at 1920×1200. At 800×600 I hit average of 30 fps.. I’ve been getting used to playing at steady 15fps with near 3d doom 95 graphics….
The game is great, feature wise and so forth I honestly think it’s absolutely amazing in every way.. except it is horribly optimized at the moment. Which I expect to change with time. I will be waiting on AMD to come out and hopefully drop the prices in the market.. I would like to get my hands on a GTX 980ti for around $500..
Pretty soon I’ll be 5 generations behind if I don’t upgrade soon.. Not to mention I’ve been running a nuclear reactor GTX 480 for all these years.

  3. I’m waiting for the 300s to come out before I buy a new card.
