Valve suspends 19 more CS:GO pro players for match fixing

Counter Strike: Global Offensive's competitive scene is becoming harder and harder to take seriously as now a further 19 more professional players have been suspended by Valve for match fixing and then placing bets on the outcome in order to profit.

Three more teams, Epsilon eSports, WinnerR and ESC Gaming are no longer eligible to compete in Valve sponsored events, including the upcoming ESL One Katowice 2015 tournament.

The following players have been suspended indefinitely for match fixing and their cases won't be reviewed until at least 2016:

  • Kevin “Uzzziii” Vernel
  • Joey “fxy0” Schlosser
  • Robin “GMX” Stahmer
  • Morgan “B1GGY” Madour
  • Damian “DiAMon” Zarski
  • Michal “bCK” Lis
  • Jakub “kub” Pamula
  • Mateusz “matty” Kolodziejczyk
  • Michal “michi” Majkowski
  • Karol “rallen” Rodowicz
  • Mikolaj “mouz” Karolewski
  • Grzegorz “SZPERO” Dziamalek
  • Pawel “innocent” Mocek
  • Jacek “minise” Jeziak

A further five players were declared ineligible for the ESL One Katowice tournament while investigations continue:

  • Robin “r0bs3n” Stephan
  • Tahsin “tahsiN” Sarikaya
  • Koray “xall” Yaman
  • Ammar “am0” Cakmak
  • Antonin “TONI” Bernhardt

Valve has once again reiterated that profession Counter Strike players “should under no circumstances gamble on CS:GO matches”, nor should they knowingly associate with those that do. ESL echoed this message, stating that match fixing will not be tolerated.

The ESL One Katowice tournament runs from the 12th of March to the 15th with a $250,000 prize pool.

KitGuru Says: It seems that match fixing is a deeper problem in the CS:GO professional scene than we originally thought. At least Valve is being thorough and suspending players, I do wonder how many more will get banned though.

  6. Cheaters are losers … it doesnt matter where you cheat in Your life or game , You play for FUN or for Money … bad things will come out to light …

Considering how often football/cycling/boxing/basketball/every single other sport on the planet matches are thrown for money, and how seriously people still take those sports, I don’t see why the CS:GO stuff should be taken any less seriously because some douchecanoes decided to cheat.

  9. They didn’t ‘cheat’, rather they fixed the outcome. Doesn’t take away from the fact that they are still skilled players without “cheats”

The real problem is that scum bag bookies profit way more than the teams themselves. In the end the losing and winning team gain nothing for being dishonest with themselves while putting in the effort. Sure they got some financial gains but it is far less compared to what the bookies got out of it.

Valve shouldn’t review the case in 2016, maybe a review in 2020. The penalty should be much harsher to discourage this practice.
