Apple’s first computer expected to sell for $160k-$240k

Apple's first product, the Apple I personal computer is up for auction on Christies later this month. The estimated sale price will be in the $160,000-$240,000 bracket on November the 23rd.

The Apple I is regarded as the first ‘personal computer' and was hand built by Apple cofounder Steve Wozniak, priced at $666.66, which sounds rather evil. The motherboard was completely pre-assembled and it was the foundation of the home computer revolution when it was released eons ago in 1976.

Christie's auction house have a mint condition Apple ! up for sale, with the final sale figure estimated at up to $240,000.

These have became quite the collectors item, with an estimated 40 or so still managing to survive today. In 1999, An Apple I reportedly sold for $50,000.

This auction contains the Apple I in its original shipping box with the Apple I cassette interface as well as a signed letter from cofounder and media darling Steve Jobs. The return address on the original packaging shows that this particular unit was shipping from Steve Jobs parents house.
