Rainbow Six: Siege may run at 60 frames per second on all platforms

Apparently, upcoming team based shooter, Rainbow Six: Siege, will run at a smooth 60 frames per second on the PC, Xbox One and PS4 when it launches next year. However, while this is good news for now, it may still be too early on to confirm frame rates for both consoles, since the title was only announced at E3 earlier this year and has no set release date.

Rainbow Six: Siege is considered a reboot for the tactical shooter, aiming to create intense multiplayer matches with two teams pitted against each other in SWAT team situations. The development team is currently hoping to make this game a spiritual successor to the classic Rainbow Six titles.

Answering a tweet asking about frame rate and resolution, the official Rainbow Six Twitter account stated that the game would be 60 frames per second on all platforms:

However, as I stated earlier, we don't know how far along in the development process this game is, we don't even have a solid release date. It's possible that the person running the Twitter account had meant to say that the team is targeting 60 frames per second, which makes perfect sense for a shooter.

Rainbow Six Siege is due out some time next year and will be published by Ubisoft.

KitGuru Says: Rainbow Six: Siege looked like a pretty fun game judging by the E3 reveal earlier this year. Since this is going to be a shooter, it makes sense that the developers would strive for 60 frames per second, hopefully they don't have to go back on their word later down the line. That said, frame rate locks generally aren't an issue for most big budget PC titles. Have you guys seen any Rainbow Six: Siege gameplay? What did you think of it?

Doesn’t matter for pc gamers sadly. Its ubisoft :/ Even if it has 60 fps, it’ll probably be capped to it so we can’t enjoy our 120/144. Graphics will also probably be butchered to be in line with consoles and give the same experience. This was a game I was excited for after the gameplay trailer…but supporting ubisoft is no longer an option

  2. Yes, I really hope they go for 60FPS even if it means low res. Might be a dangerous game to play though, as it could give them a taste of the big leagues in FPS terms.

  3. Same, I’m not even buying Unity and I’ve been waiting for a French Revolution AC since the franchise began. Ubi have taken it so far that it would be actively immoral to buy the game and support their business practices.
