Nintendo bosses aren’t happy about the Pokemon X leak

Yesterday images of the new Pokemon game were leaked on this user's Instagram account, showing off some in-game features and environments. After a few hours the news hit Nintendo HQ, the pictures were seen and the Nintendogs were released.

The leaker, Kostdin Manolov, had to remove all of the images from his account and left us with this image:

After the incident he explained: “Nintendo flew a representative out this afternoon and went to the local game shop where I picked up X. The Nintendo rep had said heads were rolling at Nintendo because of the leaks. I gave up my copy of the game to try and help keep the local game shop out of trouble and to keep my friend from losing his job.”

Games usually leak these days but the people over at Nintendo have said the whole point of a worldwide release day, was to retain the games mystique. Once a game is leaked everything you want to know about it is just a Google search away, ruining the excitement that comes with a launch day.

The leaks and images are still floating around in some places but you'll have to do some digging. We don't know what is going to happen to the guy who owns the game shop yet, but we'll update the story if we find out.

Nintendo X&Y will officially release worldwide on the 12th of October, you can currently pre-order the game on Amazon for £32.97.

KitGuru Says: A leak was bound to happen, but the fact that this guy sold the game to his friend almost two weeks before launch is pretty bad. If Kostdin didn't want his friend to get in to trouble, he probably shouldn't have leaked images from the game in the first place.
