Some Xbox One fans want Microsoft to flip flop again

Remember when Microsoft announced all those features earlier this year for the Xbox One? TV viewing, cloud saves, cloud computing, game lending, family sharing – and a little thing called every-24-hour activations? Of course you do, because you screamed in the software giant's face to have it ditch all of that stuff and it did for the most part. Now though, a vocal few have said, actually, they liked the original stuff so could Microsoft do a 180 again please.

Granted, this campaign isn't off to a stellar start. It's about 300 signatures deep on the petition, asking Microsoft to about face. “This was to be the future of entertainment,” it reads. “A new wave of gaming where you could buy games digitally, then trade, share or sell those digital licenses. Essentially, it was Steam for Xbox.”

Even the petition page seems somewhat of a parody

Apparently, gamers were simply “uninformed,” when they expressed so much distaste for Microsoft's DRM heavy console features and Sony took advantage of that, by fuelling the fires. Giving Microsoft somewhat of an ultimatum, the petition creator said, “We want this back. It can't be all or nothing, there must be a compromise.”

Despite the lukewarm response this has received however, it seemed that even some backers are double agents. One person's “reason for signing,” reads: “I love restrictions. I want always online DRM. I want the game rental business to become obsolete….” “…F*** the PS4 and those guys at Sony for catering to fans…”

Another says, “it's so important that the Xbox One is sh**tier again.”

KitGuru Says: We've heard from a lot of you that hated Microsoft's always-on style features, including the bundled Kinect camera which many see as a big privacy concern. Are any of you sad that Microsoft isn't bringing a lot of its new digital features though?
