Mexican VUHL 05 supercar showcased

Iker and Guillermo Echeverria have showcased their new VUHL 05 supercar. The car was presented to a select audience at England's Royal Automobile Club. The new car has been described as a ‘dual purposed street track racer', designed along the same principles as the iconic Ariel Atom.

The car features a modified 2.0 liter turbocharged EcoBoost engine created by Ford, providing 285 bhp to the rear wheels and 420 nm of torque. On track, they reckon it will hit 0-100 km/hr in 3.7 seconds. The top speed is 152 mph, but the car is designed more for cornering that straight line speed.

The car features a six speed manual transmission. OZ alloy wheels house the 205/45 17 front and 235/45 18 tyres. There are 310mm vented cross drilled brake discs at the front and 280mm discs at the rear.

The VUHL 05 only weighs 695 kilograms, delivering a very impressive power to weight ratio. The body is crafted from reinforced plastics and there will be a carbon fibre version available for the racers with a bigger bank balance. Weight is all important, as witnessed by the lack of roof and minimal interior design. They are offering a water resistant interior option called ‘Dinamica suede trim'.

The body of the car is fabricated in Canada, although chassis production and final assembly is handled by Adman Leku manufacturing out of Mexico City. The price is said to be around the £55,000 mark, shipping will start in early 2014.

The company recommend crash helmets as standard when driving this car close to the limits. You can read more here.

Kitguru says: At the price, the car should prove popular with track racers.
