We love PC mods, if you follow our Facebook page, we post them almost every day. The new R-Kaid-42 system is produced by Swedish design company Love Hultén. The unit is built around a wooden chassis, looking almost like a piece of furniture. The company install 20,000 playable titles from yesteryear, arcade games that were popular in the 80's and 90's.
The R-Kaid-42 in box form measures 80mm x 180 mm x 350 mm. If a user wants to play a game, you disassemble the unit into four sections – the console, two old style wireless joystick pads and a storage area for accessories. The pads can be charged from USB ports on the back of the unit.
Morphing the unit from the ‘box shape' takes a screwdriver (supplied) and some screw in brass joystick shafts. They say it only takes a couple of minutes. Once the computer turns on, the system boots into a classic arcade interface with a selection of over 20,000 games from classic console systems. Inside the system, the company say there is a 1.8ghz CPU (not sure if its AMD or Intel) and a choice of either 32gb or 64gb storage with 4GB of ram.
The starting price for the basic system is 790 euros, so it isn't cheap. You can see more over here if you are interested.
