New Kodak PIXPRO AZ361 camera showcased

Last year Kodak announced their phase out and cessation of all their cameras. The company struggled to maintain market share and sales, competiting against not only Canon and Nikon, but the rise in quality of smartphone cameras.

They were involved however in a licensing deal with JK Imaging, a Los Angeles company. This deal means that JK Imaging can use the Kodak brand name on a raft of new cameras, released to the public.

The first PIXPRO camera is called the Astro Zoom AZ361. It is the first of a series of long zooms from the new company with other cameras showing under ‘coming soon' on the company website.

This new camera features a 16 megapixel sensor with up to 3,200 ISO sensitivity. It also utilises a 9 point autofocus system with an ashperic HD 36x wide angle optical zoom lens comprised of 16 elements in 14 groups. The focal length is quite staggering – a range of 24mm to 864mm.

This zoom lens (called Astro Zoom) has optical image stabilisation to help take better shots at higher zoom ranges.

The camera is powered by a 1100 mAh Li-ion battery and it can also record 720p video at 30fps with mono audio. There are HDMI and USB ports for connectivity to computers and televisions. At the rear is a 3 inch 460,000 dot LCD display and a flash module is available at the top.
