Coolship Android keyboard computer

I remember my ATARI ST with fondness. There was something about having the complete computer inside the keyboard which appealed to me, and still does. If you are like me, the computer in this story will bring back very warm memories.

A Chinese company called FocusWill Information Technology have created an Android based keyboard computer which they are calling the CoolShip. This little system has been under development since 2011 and just started shipping last month.

Inside is a 1.5ghz Rockchip dual core RK3066 ATM processor with Mail-400 Graphics with 4Gb/8gb storage and 1GB of memory. It runs on Android 4.0 with a custom skin the company are calling CoolShip.

The company ships with a full size chiclet style keyboard and there is an integrated touchpad bottom right. The company have even included a set of low output stereo speakers rated at 0.7w each.

The system supports 1080p resolution across VGA or HDMI and it has two USB 2.0 ports, 3.5 mm audio in and out, Ethernet LAN, SD card slot and 802.11b/g/n wireless technology support. [yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xox1D7ECSeE']

The dimensions are 395x215x34/17mm and it only takes 10.5W at the socket. It weighs 1.2kg and has a built in 3.7V lithium battery to protect the OS if power fails quickly.

FocusWill are promoting the Android system on Indiegogo to push it globally and if you support it,. you get the 4GB storage version for only $89. They are including a USB mouse as well for an extra $10. If you want the 8GB version with the USB mouse, and a 16GB SD card with a version of the CoolShip interface, it costs only $119. People should start getting their machines shortly after they ship in April.
