A team of photographers set a record for the world's largest panoramic photograph with an incredible 320 Gigapixel, 360 degree image of London.

The final image takes 48,000 pictures and stitches them all together for one whopping image. British Telecommunications contracted photography firm, 360Cities to create the panorama.

The photographers Jeffrey Martin, Tom Mills and Holger Schulze spent three days on the 29th floor of the BT Tower to take all the photographs, dealing with extreme winds and freezing temperatures.

Four camera setups were positioned around the top of the communications tower on an outside platform. Each of the four setups were equipped with a Canon EOS 7D camera outfitted with EF 400mm f2.8L IS II USM leneses and Extender EF 2x III teleconverters. These cameras were attached to Clauss Rodeon VR Head ST robotic panorama mounts and then configured to shoot four frames a second as they covered a 360 degree arc.

Stitching the photographs together took 3 months and then the images made into a system that could be navigated online. The team said if the image was printed it would be 321.5 feet wide and 79 feet tall.

Some of the buildings are visible up to 20 miles away so the detail is very impressive.
