Amazon offer support for OUYA android console

The OUYA Android powered gaming console funded on KickStarter will begin selling through Amazon, as well as Gamestop and other retailers.

Preorders will start being taken on Tuesday in advance of retail availability in June 2013. American retails such as Best Buy and Target are also onboard to sell the console, with prices around the $100 mark.

OUYA will sell their controllers as well through the same channels. They have a touch input pad which will cost around $50.

This gaming console will plug directly into television sets and will run a plethora of  titles based on Google's mobile operating system, Android. The hardware is open to any developer who can build titles for the console as well as develop new accessories.

OUYA raised a staggering $8.5 million from a Kickstarter campaign and they have been taking preorders for the console on their website. Over 68,000 consoles are on order according to CEO Julie Uhrman.

The Wall Street Journal interviewed Uhrman and you can read that over here. The company are using some of the money they got from the Kickstarter campaign to fund game development.
