Honda recall 820,000 vehicles

Honda are facing an embarrassing recall, as they have expanded a recall of 2002-2003 Civic Sedans and 2004-2005 Pilot Spot utility vehicles to 820,000 units.

Honda dealers will have to inspect and replace components of the headlight wiring system. Honda have said that the problem is the wiring of the headlight switch which could cause low beam headlights to fail completely. No injuries or crashes have been reported yet, according to the company.

The initial recall was in March, for 550,000 vehicles, but the company have since found out that a wider range of vehicles could suffer from the problem.

Earlier this week Honda have said they were going to recall 572,000 Accord V6 cars in America. This was to fix leaking power steering hoses which could in theory cause a fire. They have had to delay this recall to next year, because they don't have enough parts. The updated power steering hoses will be ready in early 2013. Lets hope some of the cars don't catch fire between now and then.

Honda have offered an ‘interim' repair, which requires the owners to take their car into their local dealership. If owners start experiencing an unusual ‘smell' they should take immediate action.
