After years of less-than-inspired Call of Duty releases, Treyarch’s Black Ops 6 has launched to solid reviews and even better sales performance. Following reports of records breaking ISP data use during the pre-load period, Microsoft has claimed that Black Ops 6 has been “the biggest Call of Duty release ever.”
As transcribed by The Verge’s Tom Warren, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella revealed that the recent launch of Black Ops 6 marks “the biggest Call of Duty release ever, setting a record for day one players as well as Game Pass subscriber adds on launch day.”
Additionally, sales on Steam and PlayStation were also up “over 60% year over year.”
As with pretty much all Microsoft reports, we did not get any concrete numbers, instead preferring to offer relative sales data for comparison.
Following two consecutive years of Modern Warfare releases, it seems as though fans were yearning for a new entry in the Black Ops series. It will be interesting to see how the game performs in the long-run.
