Astro Bot officially a hit as game receives universal critical acclaim

Astro Bot is an upcoming 3D mascot platformer from PlayStation’s Team Asobi. While Astro has appeared in multiple games (including a PS5 pack-in title), the little bot is set to get his first big break with the PS5 exclusive ‘Astro Bot’. Available from today, the game is officially a major hit with critics giving the game near-universal acclaim.

With a Metacritic score of 94 (and an OpenCritic rating of 95), Astro Bot is officially the 4th highest-rated PS5 game of all time – only being surpassed by The Witcher 3’s PS5 release (94); Baldur’s Gate 3 (96) and Elden Ring (96).

Of course, with the game officially launching today for the general public, we will soon be able to get a more comprehensive and varied look at exactly what fans think of the game.

That said, given the fact that Astro Bot has been described as having “creative new mechanics and power-ups…gorgeous visuals, joyful vibes, near-perfect controls, a terrific soundtrack, and excellent rewards for curiosity and exploration”, it’s somewhat safe to say that Sony most likely has a hit on its hands. Hopefully the game sells equally as well.
