Alan Wake was a cult hit survival thriller experience when the game first launched for the Xbox 360 back in 2010. Following a decade away from the series, Remedy Entertainment brought the series back in the form of a remaster and sequel – both of which seem to be performing quite well with a total of 15 million players across both titles.
As part of the company’s latest fiscal earnings report, Remedy Entertainment revealed that last year’s Alan Wake 2 has sold a total of 1.8 million copies since its launch in October 2023. Additionally, 2021’s Alan Wake Remastered has now passed 1.7 million copies sold – bringing both titles to a cumulative 3.5 million units sold.
Interestingly, Remedy also reported that the series as a whole recently hit a new milestone of 15 million total players.
Of course, 15 million players does not equate to 15 million copies sold (even if you include the original 360/PC release’s sales), with the remaster in particular having been available through the likes of Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus.
Still, for a series which was once seen as a niche cult hit title, Alan Wake is finally getting all of the flowers that it deserves. Hopefully Alan Wake 2 continues to sell well.
