AOC’s latest monitor delivers 280Hz gaming for less than £200

This week, AOC announced the C27G2Z3/BK, a 27-inch curved FullHD display designed for gamers looking to achieve high frame rates without breaking the bank. Its primary selling point is the 280Hz refresh rate, while costing less than £200.

The AOC Gaming C27G2Z3 features a 27-inch Fast VA curved display (1500R curvature) with a 280Hz refresh rate and 1ms GtG response time (0.5ms MPRT with MBR enabled). The Fast VA panel achieves a high 4000:1 contrast ratio, resulting in deeper blacks than the vast majority of IPS panels. The HDR10 compatibility means it can handle HDR content, but the 300 nits of brightness suggest it will be a limited HDR experience.

The C27G2Z3/BK employs Adaptive-Sync technology to address screen tearing and stuttering, ensuring smooth and fluid gameplay across Nvidia and AMD GPUs. Connectivity options include 2x HDMI 2.0 ports, a DisplayPort 1.4, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The monitor's ergonomic design includes an adjustable stand with height adjustment, tilt, and swivel functions, offering users flexibility in finding their ideal viewing angle. Alternatively, a VESA mounting mechanism allows you to use the monitor with a different stand or arm. The AOC Gaming C27G2Z3/BK is scheduled for release in late June 2024, backed by a 3-year warranty, and priced at approximately £199.99.

KitGuru says: If you're looking for a cheap gaming monitor with a +240 Hz refresh rate, the C27G2Z3 could be well considered. However, if you don't like curved monitors, you'll have to look elsewhere.
