Popular Poker-themed rogue-like ‘Balatro’ comes to mobile this month

Developed by a single person, Balatro is a unique poker-themed rogue-like deckbuilder which launched back in February to a wave of success – selling over 1 million copies in just a month. Thanks to its relatively simple controls, the game is perfectly suited to a mobile port. Finally, Balatro is officially coming to Android/iOS later this month.

Releasing a trailer onto YouTube, the publishers at Playstack officially announced the release date for Balatro on mobile, saying “Balatro mobile is coming to Apple Arcade, the App store and Google Play on September 26th, Pre-order today!”

No price has been listed for the game, however, given that the PC release costs just under £13 – and the fact that it will be coming to Apple’s Arcade subscription service – expect the title to be a premium-priced product; albeit likely at a reduced cost compared to the PC version.

Regardless of price, Balatro on mobile will likely be a major success, as the excitement surrounding its PC release was so strong that some players even figured out a way to get the PC version running on Android. With an overwhelmingly positive reception on Steam, Balatro looks set to be the next big mobile hit.
