Marvel Rivals’ launch roster and roadmap revealed

Following multiple beta periods, the upcoming Hero Shooter Marvel Rivals is finally set to arrive on the 6th of December. Ahead of the free-to-play game’s official launch, the team have offered a look at the title’s full roster – as well as their post-launch roadmap.

Announced via a developer blog on YouTube, the Marvel Rivals team confirmed that the game will launch with a total of 33 playable characters upon release – 27 of which have so far already been confirmed.

As with many games nowadays, Marvel Rivals will launch with a month-long Season 0. Known as ‘Doom’s rise’ the launch period will feature the aforementioned 33 characters alongside 8 standard/competitive maps, 1 conquest map and a practice range.

Beyond launch, Season 1 has been confirmed to arrive in early January of next year, and will last for roughly 3 months. Said to be the framework for all future updates, each season is said to bring with it new maps, heroes, team-up abilities and on occasion new game modes.

Of course, Marvel Rivals will offer cosmetic Battle Passes each season, with no pay-to-win mechanics. Interestingly, Season 0 will also feature its own BP, though is planned to be cheaper than future passes with fewer tiers due to its 1-month-long time span.

Finally, the team confirmed that Marvel Rivals will support 16 languages on release day, with 3 of them (English, Chinese and Japanese) having their own full suite of voice over support.

There’s been a good amount of buzz surrounding Marvel Rivals prior to its release, and so it will be interesting to see how the game performs when it launches in just a few week’s time.
