Avowed gets £90 ‘Premium Edition’ with 5 days early access

Last week, Obsidian's upcoming fantasy RPG, Avowed, went up for pre-order, coinciding with the reveal of the game's pricey £89.99 ‘Premium' Edition. While many games now offer ‘early access' as part of their deluxe editions, most tend to stick to a 3-day period. However, in the case of Avowed, you'll get five days of early access.

The $90/£90 Premium Edition of Avowed will include a few extra perks, but it is far from being as good a deal as last year's Starfield Premium Edition. With Starfield Premium Edition, which also retailed at £89.99, Bethesda included several days of early access to the game, as well as access to the game's first expansion, which launched in September this year.

With Avowed Premium Edition, players will get five days of early access to the game, as well as a skin pack and access to the game's soundtrack. The main draw here appears to be the early access period, and not the inclusion of extra goodies or DLC.

Microsoft is going to make the Avowed Premium Edition tough to ignore too, as Game Pass subscribers will get a special offer to obtain the Premium Edition benefits for a one-time fee less than half of the cost of the base game. Microsoft has done similar Game Pass deals for other major games, like Starfield, Forza Horizon 5 and others.

Avowed is due to launch on the 18th of February 2025, but Premium Edition buyers will get access starting on the 13th of February.

KitGuru Says: I'm looking forward to Avowed, but after Star Wars Outlaws, I've been highly put off by the idea of ‘early access' deluxe editions. In the case of Starfield, where the expansion was the main draw rather than the early access, it made a bit more sense. But here, it seems that Early Access is the main selling point, not the soundtrack that nobody has heard yet, or the skins that most players likely won't equip.
