KitGuru Annual Awards 2013

We've run through the best components from 2013 – and added the ‘cherry' of the Technical Excellence awards at the end.

So where should you buy these products from?

Earlier in December, KitGuru changed its home page poll ask you, Dear Reader, that exact question. All of the usual suspects were in the running, including Aria, eBuyer, Scan and PC World.

Analysing the results, 3rd position provided some surprises, because it shows that around 1 in 5 KitGuru readers are looking for stores that are closer to their home address. That's good to see, we'd hate to see that the majors/multi-nationals could run away with a poll like this.

That said, the big boy of the online retailer market is in second spot. At least half the KitGuru crew are Amazon Prime members – we have to admit it – but you need to have made your buying decision before asking Amazon to ship your goods.

Many people want a human on the phone before they place an order, they want to be able to ask questions in a forum and to see a whole heap of bundles and deals before making a decision.

With close to 26% of the overall vote, the winner of the KitGuru Store of the Year Award 2013 – as voted by The Readers – is Overclockers UK.

Amazon does a decent job at 23% with ‘Local/Other' in 3rd spot at 22%.

Bring up the rear in this category is PC World with just 1% but if you are interested in serious components and technology, you probably will not be shopping in a retail park on a Sunday afternoon.

Following their acquisition by CaseKing in February 2012, Overclockers has invested in new premises, personnel and product lines and – according to you folks – they are doing a great job.

The KitGuru Reader's Award for Best Store 2013 goes to Overclockers.co.uk
