Asus launches new ROG Swift PG248Q 180Hz monitor

Asus is once again expanding its excellent Republic of Gamers Swift line of monitors with a new 24-inch offering equipped with G-Sync and an ultra-fast 180Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time. The ROG Swift PG248Q promises seamless visuals and super-smooth gameplay thanks to its variable refresh rate capabilities and low response times.

This is a 16:9 24-inch monitor running at the still popular 1920×1080 resolution. Adding that to the 180Hz refresh rate and this could be one of the best monitors for competitive gamers. In-fact, Asus designed this monitor specifically with eSports and high-level competitive gaming in mind. This will also be the official monitor of Valve's The International 2016 Dota 2 tournament and ESL One Cologne 2016.

This monitor also comes with some of Asus's usual exclusive features, like the crosshair overlay, an onscreen timer to help keep track of how smoothly games are running, an FPS counter and a display alignment function that provides visual aid to help you line up a multi-monitor set up properly.

Finally, in terms of connectivity, this monitor has DisplayPort 1.2, HDMI, and some USB 3.0 ports with pass-through connectivity and quick-charging for smartphones. The ROG Swift PG248Q will be available from July for £399.99.

KitGuru Says: This certainly looks like a nice monitor and that refresh rate will garner lots of interest from the competitive gaming audience. It is quite a pricey 1080p monitor though. What do you guys think of the latest monitor from Asus? Do any of you own an ROG Swift monitor already?

  2. What does it offer that 120hz monitors don’t have? Nobody can tell the difference above 120 anyway, just bragging rights?

  3. people see difference between 120 and 144 hz so no need to write this nonsense here, its 180 hz which is perfect for cs go

Still waiting for serious DP 1.4 monitors to arrive…

  5. There is no difference. People have convinced themselves that there is .

  6. there is a difference but its not nearly as substantial as going from 60 to 120 so people don’t really say much about it. The 165hz swift is much more noticeable though and if you were to go from 120 to 180 you would notice it. Its the same jump as when you go from 60 to 120.

299 you might be talking business @ 399 its a pass

  9. What exactly would I notice? I don’t see why someone would sacrifice graphical settings for such high framerate. Is the difference just perceived smoothness?

  10. It’s 1080p, so you don’t have to sacrifice that much in the way of settings.

  11. So what is the difference? And it’s not only 1080p as you can downsample from 1440p or higher, which is what I do.

  12. yeah, thats pretty much it. The image is smoother and this is a display for people who care about that and only that. As someone who played bf4 with all setting on low expect mesh quality dispite having 2 gtx 770s this monitors is interesting to me.

  13. It’s for competitive players, CS GO and Dota pros etc, there is objectively an advantage from 60 to 144 and there is nothing to say we won’t notice the difference from 144 to 180. Especially in CS:GO and Overwatch I’m positive there will be a tangible difference.
