LG’s Optimus 3D 2 sighted ahead of MWC launch

A bit of a leak has occured on LG's Optimus 3D 2 ahead of its announcement at Mobile World Congress (MWC) later in the month, which is where the company unveiled its original Optimus 3D last year.

Aside from the ability for the phone to continue displaying 3D images without the need for accompanying glasses, this time around the phone's display will be a HD Advanced High Performance In-plane Switching (or AH-IPS) one which is apparently similar to that used on the Optimus LTE.

In typical next-gen fashion the device loses a bit of heft with a 9.8mm waistline (12mm on the original) and coming in 20g lighter at 148g. A very minimal amount of (unconfirmed) specs were also disclosed in the leak such as the inclusion of HDMI and DLNA support.

The version of Android is yet to be confirmed. One would be quick to assume Android 4.0, but the leaked image of the phone doesn't fit in with that and leaves us pondering – especially when considering that when LG launched the Optimus 3D with the aging Froyo (2.2) version of Android instead of 2.3 Gingerbread to get it to market quicker.

KitGuru says: If this phone already gets your juices flowing, hopefully you're keen on white. Although a black version will likely roll out at some point down the track.
