Windows Phone 7.8 roll-out to commence January 31

In mid-November last year we heard that Microsoft will commence the Windows Phone 7.8 roll-out for first and second generation handsets by the end of the year. For reasons unknown this schedule was pushed back and the latest date appears to be January 31st.

Windows Phone Colombia has informed users that the roll out will begin from January 31st. Telstra has also revealed that the Nokia Lumia 800 will be receiving the update from the last day of January. O2 also revealed that the update will arrive by the end of January. With the sheer amount of evidence on hand it is now easy to say that Windows Phone 7.8 will begin to roll out in ten days time.

The Windows Phone 7.8 update arrives in the hope to keep existing Windows Phone 7.x users happy enough with their devices and includes resizable Live Tiles, the Bing daily image lock screen wallpaper and various other improvements.

Emulation is the saving grace of the video games industry. Despite its controversial nature, the technology will be the only way in which all games are preserved for the future – free from licensing agreements and other such nonsense. Better still is the fact that in a majority of cases, emulation allows for a more accurate recreation of the game’s original experience than official offerings, due to countless complex shaders, filters and tweakable settings. And the best part? Thanks to the progression of technology, your humble smartphone is able to do all this and more – giving you the power of 10,000 games in the palm of your hand.
