Nokia reveals Lumia 820 and 920 Windows Phone 8 devices

After their fair share of leaks, Nokia has officially announced the Lumia 920 flagship and Lumia 820 yesterday afternoon.

The Lumia 920 retains much of the design from the Lumia 900 and offers a 4.5 inch PureMotion HD+ WXGA (1280×768) IPS display. It is also optimised for input with gloves and keys and is more legible in sunlight.

Under the hood there is a 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor, 1 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage and a 2000 mAh battery with integrated Qi wireless charging. The rear camera sensor is PureView enabled, although in the case of the Lumia 920 it is only 8.7 MP in size and includes optimisations for smoother video and better night shots due to its floating sensor. There is also a 1.2 MP front facing camera.

The Lumia 820 is the mid to high end range device and has a 4.3 inch ClearBlack OLED display with a meagre 480×800 resolution. It also has the same super sensitive touch, sunlight legibility improvements and wireless charging as the flagship. It has a removable 1650 mAh battery, a 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor, 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of internal storage plus a MicroSD slot.

The PureView camera is dropped from the lower device and is replaced by a standard 8 MP camera with Carl Zeiss optics and a front facing VGA camera.

Both devices are pentaband LTE and 3G, sot they will work on most networks. They're also fairly hefty as well, the Lumia 920 weighs 185 grams and its little brother weighs 160 grams.

The two Lumia devices of course run Windows Phone 8 with Nokia's own optimisations and apps inside. The devices will retail around the world sometime during the last quarter of the year.

KitGuru says: Nokia stock has dropped 15%, but right now I see no reason as to why.
