HTC sees no reason to manufacture QWERTY phones

HTC's design team has recently shed some details on the company's plans going forward at an event in Seattle. We have already discovered that plans for phones with larger capactity batteries have been dropped, and now hardware QWERTY phones are destined for the same fate.

The ChaCha could well have been the last phone with a physical keyboard from HTC

Even though HTC are best known for hits like the  HD2 and the Desire family, they have also produced more than their fair share of hardware QWERTY phone in its years. This list includes the HTC ChaCha, which is also generally known as the Facebook phone. I personally reviewed the ChaCha last year, and while the physical keyboard was brilliant to use, third party software support was lacking.

Even phones with slide-out keyboards like the Desire Z are not spared from extinction. This is because HTC is not satisfied with their performance in the retail arena, and as such have decided to drop them from their future plans.

KitGuru says: It looks as if fans of QWERTY phones will have to look elsewhere for their physical keyboard fix.
