HTC Butterfly announced, introduces 1080p displays to the masses

Following the announcement of the HTC J Butterfly in October for the Japanese market we knew that a global version was bound to be on its way. HTC has today announced the Butterfly for international markets.

The most notable feature of the Butterfly is undoubtedly the 5 inch, 1080p Super LCD 3 display with Corning's Gorilla Glass 2. The flagship HTC device is just over 9mm thick and incorporates a 1.5 quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon Pro processor, 2 GB of memory, 16 GB of internal storage and a MicroSD slot. As has been common with more recent flagships the ImageSense chips allows for zero shutter lag for the 8 MP rear facing camera and 2.1 MP front facing sensor. The battery is rather small for such a device at 2020 mAh and with a 1080p, battery life could be questionable.

No details regarding launch dates or regions were mentioned in the press release, but one would think it will come to most major markets in Europe early next year.

KitGuru says: Welcome to the next generation of Android flagships, where display resolutions and processing power conquers everything.

KitGuru Games: The Best Console is the One in Your Pocket

Emulation is the saving grace of the video games industry. Despite its controversial nature, the technology will be the only way in which all games are preserved for the future – free from licensing agreements and other such nonsense. Better still is the fact that in a majority of cases, emulation allows for a more accurate recreation of the game’s original experience than official offerings, due to countless complex shaders, filters and tweakable settings. And the best part? Thanks to the progression of technology, your humble smartphone is able to do all this and more – giving you the power of 10,000 games in the palm of your hand.
