Google’s Nexus 7 will be available from some UK retailers

As we mentioned in our Google Nexus 7 launch article, the stock Android tablet set to take on the Amazon Kindle Fire and other budget tablets will be available for £159 and £199 for the 8 and 16 GB models respectively. If you want to order your Nexus 7 directly from Google you can do that from here. However, there will be other options for UK consumers.

The 16 GB model will be available from retailer chains such as PC World, Comet, Tesco, Ebuyer and Carphone Warehouse for the same £199 price point from July 27th. This move will give customers much needed exposure to Android tablets in a place where Apple's iPad currently dominates. The cheaper 8 GB model will be exclusive to the Google Play Store.

As a refresher the Google Nexus 7 is manufactured by ASUS and is a Nexus device, meaning it will get software updates straight from Google without any delays. It has a 7 inch IPS display with a 1280×800 resolution and NVIDIA's Tegra 3 quad-core processor.

    They’re mad .. the £159 model will be the most popular, initially. But storage support for usb hard drives musst be a priority

    USB host is not supported natively but works via root and using Stickmount for flash drives. Keyboards and mice should work normally
