64 GB Samsung Galaxy S III has been cancelled?

When the Samsung Galaxy S III was first announced a couple of months ago, it was said to come in 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB versions. However, the most spacious of the trio could have been flushed by Samsung as Expansys (a UK retailer) has cancelled its pre-orders for the model.

There may not be a Samsung Galaxy S III 64 GB model after all.

An Expansys customer has been told that his order could not be processed and that Samsung “has decided not to release the unit”. This decision, if true, will not affect the production of the current 16 GB and 32 GB models.

From here it seems as if Samsung has deemed that it just isn't worth the extra manufacturing costs for the more spacious model; and it makes sense. The Galaxy S III comes complete with a MicroSD slot that supports cards up to 64 GB in size. With the possibility for 96 GB of storage, it really shouldn't be too much of an issue.

KitGuru says: While it is sad to see Samsung will not be pushing larger models it should be a non-issue for the vast majority of consumers.
