Conker's Bad Fur Day was one of the most unique games of its generation. It featured a foul mouthed, violent squirrel, hoards of movie references, toilet humour and sex jokes – all of it exclusively on the almost always family friendly Nintendo console, the N64. Over a decade after release, the people behind its creation have now come together to talk about it and it's awesome.
Be aware, that almost from the get go, the language and themes discussed are a wonderful homage to Conker's gameplay, so if you found the original game too much for your delicate ears, the people behind it are just as foul mouthed – so steer clear.
Otherwise here's the first episode (very NSFW): [yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VgtAXCaSlpk#!']
Some of the notably interesting snippets from this first outing, include the fact that Donkey Kong 64 cost a fortune, because it had to ship with the expanded N64 memory module, due to a game breaking bug in the standard version. Conker's resolution was stretched out to prevent the need of the memory expansion – and thereby keep the audience for the game as wide as possible.
Also, did you know that textures in the game were only 4kb in size? 32×32 pixels a piece. There was also a lot of competition between the “barns,” at RARE, the teams that were working on different games. They hated each other, in a friendly sort of way. This led to much competition between the team working on Banjo Kazooie and the Conker boys.
KitGuru Says: The following episodes also came out today, so there's a good few hours of swearing and derision of other game developers, along with Conker gameplay – or at least, menu play in the first part – to be had. So get watching.
