There's been a lot of news about the little console that could over the past 24 hours. Original backers are now receiving their first editions of the Ouya, GAME has announced it's taking pre-orders at £99.99 a pop and Maker Bot has announced a partnership with Ouya to make new, colourful cases.

Financed using Kickstarter, in one of the most successful campaigns to date, the Ouya has begun shipping to original backers, bundled with emulators for the SNES and other consoles, giving it an impressive back-catalogue of games for people to be getting on with. Of course it'll have its own Android based games too.

No UK release date has been announced as of yet, but GAME has begun taking pre-orders at £99, which is nearly 50 per cent more expensive than the $99 (£65) price tag our friends across the pond get.

Still, if you think the standard case is a bit boring and you happen to have a MakerBot 3D printer, you can make yourself a much more colourful casing for the Ouya, thanks to a partnership between the two firms. Visiting the MakerBot website will give you access to the Ouya development kit, which gives you the specs and barebones design you need in order to print off whatever design you fancy, in a Ouya shaped box.

KitGuru Says: The Ouya does look like an interesting design that is going to be further bad news for Nintendo. The Wii U is already selling poorly and with a cheap competitor offering Nintendo back catalogue games, the Ouya could be a real pain in the neck.
