Microsoft to launch tablet targeting Apple iPad

According to the latest reports, Microsoft will announce their own tablet next week at an event in Los Angeles. Microsoft usually leave device announcements to their partners, such as Acer and Asus – who showcased Windows 8 tablets at Computex.

AllThingsD have said that Microsoft have developed their own tablet and have been involved in the hardware design. If this is the case then will be going head to head against Apple's iPad. A tall order for the operating system giant.

Microsoft may be planning a special Windows 8 tablet, which would give them complete control over the hardware and software elements, exactly how Apple operate. The big concern would be that Microsoft may in fact annoy their partners who will also be releasing Windows 8 tablets.

Kitguru says: Will this be the best Windows 8 tablet to hit the market?
